The Respite program has been providing support and supervision for children with autism and other cognitive disabilities and their families since 2000.  The home is located in East Lansing in a safe residential area with access to a wonderful school playground.

The Respite home is a comfortable and safe environment for a child with disabilities to interact with other children, as well as learn and play in a supervised and friendly atmosphere.

objectives services

The respite home will:

  • Provide 24-hour care and support within a home setting
  • Provide staff support with a minimum 1 staff for every 2 residents
  • Provide an environment designed to promote individual growth and independence
  • Assist children with social interaction and community participation
  • Provide support to the families of children with cognitive disabilities
  • Provide individualized programs designed to systematically develop positive behavioral skills
  • Utilize existing community resources for leisure and learning


 
Residential Services include basic care for all clients.  Additional services are developed based upon individual need and may include:
  • Daily structured activities
  • Behavioral skills training
  • Social interaction skills
  • Self-care skills training
  • Communication development
  • Leisure skill development
  • Assistance in organization, planning and problem-solving
  • Development of fine and gross motor skills
  • Pre-Vocational Development
  • Community training
